Materials- During last term, I have used different colour sewing threads on black and white paper, however found that they do not convey much - In this term, I'm going to try using different materials to portray different stories and bring out different characteristics of the pieces Background- Wood -> MDF --> Once broken, it could not be mended or fixed --> Hard and tough --> It is dense, flat, stiff, has no knots and is easily machined - Fabric -> Cotton --> Breathable and transmits moisture away from the body and is absorbent and removes liquid from the skin, which makes it comfortable for people to wear --> Has a high tensile strength, making it strong, durable and less likely to rip or tear --> Most children's clothing are made of cotton -> Camo Print --> There are four types of camouflage: concealing coloration (when an animal hides itself against a background of the same colour), disruptive coloration (The stripes, spots or other patterns on some animals are used to make it hard for other animals to see the outline of their bodies), disguise (animals blend in with their surroundings by their shape and/or texture rather than colour) and mimicry (mimic the characteristics of unappetising animals) --> Use of camouflage by a military force to protect personnel and equipment from observation by enemy forces --> Signifies the idea of protection, tough and strong -> Chiffon --> See-through, delicate and light-weight properties --> Gives an elegant, girlish and floating appearance -> Linen and Silk --> Elegant, sophisticated appearance --> Wrinkles easily - Mirror -> Similar to wood, once it is broken, it could not be mended or treat as if it hasn't been broke -> Once it is broken, it would be scattered and the reflection of oneself won't be properly seen Strings and threads- Thread
-> Cotton thread --> Soft, gentle and delicate --> Usually used to repair clothings or making clothes - Knitting Yarn -> Fluffy, soft and fuzzy texture -> Usually used to make winter clothing, making others warm and comfortable - Twine Strings -> Has a rough, strong and stiff texture -> A lot thicker and harder than sewing thread
