I'm going to make a garment, which shows the 5 friendships that I have encountered throughout these 20 years. These friendships have affected how I perceive relationships and connections with people, as well as my personality and characteristic. However, because I have never made any garments, therefore I decided to use newspaper as an experiment for getting more familiar with constructing a garment. Experiment 13 Components: 1. Hood = protective, security -> waterproof fabric 2. Bralette Top = Confidence V.S. Self Conscious -> lace fabric - sexy, attractive, but could make one feel conscious about their skin and body 3. Dress with trail at the back = Romantic, Confidence -> Satin or Chiffon fabric - girlish, light, fun/ party * However, trailed dress is long, which is hard to move in and limits one's movements, furthermore does not really show the element of fun, therefore is not the ideal garment Experiment 23 Components: 1. Over Shoulders Cape = Protective -> waterproof fabric 2. Crop Top = Confidence V.S. Self Conscious -> lace fabric - sexy, attractive, but could make one feel conscious about their skin and body 3. Short Pencil Skirt = Cute -> Satin or Chiffon fabric - girlish, light, fun/ party * However, pencil skirts are very tight, which does not allow a lot of movements, furthermore does not really show the element of fun, therefore is not the best skirt Single Garment -> Multiple GarmentsSingle Garment Pro: - Unity - Shows how friendship impacted me on who I am right now Con: - Does not show friends' character/ how they affected me Problem Solving - Make multiple garments that show different individual friends, and how they impacted me by interacting with these garments Cape- In the first two pictures, I have made a cape without using a pattern to test out how newspaper could fold and form a cape
- In the third and fourth pictures, I have made a cape using a pattern, as it helps give me a clear and direct instruction of how to make a cape
